Gilbert group seeks funds, food for abandoned cats

Updated: April 19, 2012, 07:14

Gilbert-based Save the Cats Arizona is holding its semi-annual Feline Food Drive & Fundraiser throughout April to support its ongoing efforts to rescue abandoned cats.

BACKGROUND

More pets are being abandoned during the continuing economic downturn. Save the Cats Arizona tries to place them in foster homes or find them a "forever family." It also provides an education program that stresses that domestic cats cannot survive on their own, and the need for spaying and neutering of all pets.

FUNDRAISER

The group needs dry and canned cat food that is unexpired and unopened. Donations of food may be through April 29 at:

• Southeast Regional Library, 775 N. Greenfield Road at Guadalupe Road.

• Gilbert Town Hall buildings, 50 E. Civic Center Drive and 90 E. Civic Center Drive.

• Gilbert Police Department, 75 E. Civic Center Drive.

Monetary donations can be sent in care of Save the Cats Arizona to P.O. Box 8306, Mesa AZ, 85214 or online at www.savethecatsaz.org
